The origin of the Air jordan Military Dub Zero
The Air jordan Military Dub Zero was released in 2005. Rumor had it that the silhouette was at first just an attempt by jordan Military to conceal the highly anticipated Air jordan Military XX, but leaked photos of the sneaker became so popular among sneakerheads that the brand rushed it to production.
The shoe was actually a combination of seven Air jordan Military silhouettes—the Air jordan Military 4, 6, 11, 12, 13, 15, and 20. Its soles come from the 4, the back loops from the 6, the patent leather from the 11, and the tongue’s “T W O 3” from the 12. The shape, meanwhile, takes inspiration from the cut of the 13, the woven leather at the back from the 15, and the laser-etch design on the uppers from the Air jordan Military 20.
During the shoe’s initial release, four colorways in patent leather were dropped. In 2006, the brand released yet another colorway, but this would be the last for the silhouette until its return three years later. Unlike the first drops of the sneaker, the 2009 release featured embroidered logos instead of the etched laser print. The brand dropped four colorways for the silhouette in 2009 before taking them off the market again for several years.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Air jordan Military as well as the 10th anniversary of the laser print, Air jordan Military brought back the silhouette in 2015. The laser print was brought back as well, but the patent leather had been replaced with traditional leather.
