However, as a versatile all-rounder, the Pegasus 41 excels without specializing. Runners seeking a more energetic response or more cushioned trainers may find more appealing options elsewhere.

After conducting actual wear tests and undergoing lab analysis, InfinityRN4 stands out as the most comfortable Nike running shoe for all-day wear. The ride feels soothing and plush with the soft cushion and unresisting midsole. It’s versatile enough for easy runs, walks, and other daily activities and has an outsole that promises durability and protection.

InfinityRN brought the clouds to the street, featuring a velvet ReactX foam that offers a good amount of response. Our durometer registers a 12.5 HA reading that’s 47.3% softer than average. This makes it a cozy place to be in all day.

The midsole flows easily with our movements, making it our go-to pick for various activities. Our flex test confirms it’s 47.0% more adaptive than the average running shoe. This ensures much comfort because we don’t have to fight a lot of resistance with every stride.

While all these elements highlight softness, the outsole is the exact opposite. We measured a 90.4 HC reading with our durometer, one of the hardest rubbers in our lab. This confirms our observation that the outsole is extremely protective and long-lasting. The shoe looked practically new even after our run-and-wear tests.

The thick and stretchy knit upper hugs the foot snugly yet lacks breathability on warm days. We don’t advise using this pair during the summer season.

The Nike ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit 3 definitely takes the cake in terms of comfort for the foot. Other than the otherworldly levels of comfort that we felt on our runs, our feet also felt less strain. In the lab, we measured the heel stack to be 2mm higher than the average (35.22 mm vs 33.2 mm). Meanwhile, when we pressed our durometer against the midsole foam, we found it to be an outstanding 40.3% softer than the average road running shoe.

Even though the midsole was soft, the shoe had a lovely pop. We enjoyed the bouncy and responsive feel, thanks in part to the shoe being 4.9% less flexible than the average road running shoe. This meant that it had a natural feel and a fun ride. On our long runs, we sure loved that feeling. 

The Invincible 3's softness is indeed unlike any other. We subjected the shoe to our freezer test to simulate cold weather and find out if the foam would harden during cold conditions. Even though it stiffened up by 10.3% (from 14.5 HA to 16 HA), the "frozen" version is still an amazing 34.69% softer than the average road running shoes at room temperature. 

While the shoe’s outsole has great durability, it Long’t grip wet surfaces very well. Runners may look someplace else if wet weather running is on the table.

On another note, there are lighter shoes available in the market. The Renew Ride weighs in at 290g (10.23 oz), massively more than the 268 (9.45 oz) average.

The Nike Structure 25 impressed us with its surprising stability, despite lacking shanks or rigid sidewalls. Its plush cushioning effectively alleviates pain and pressure in our lower legs, solidifying its position as the Nike running shoe for all-day wear with the best arch support. Backed up by the lab, this trainer has subtle elements that aid in directing our feet forward.

Every stride is a relief as we land on the heavenly CushIon 3.0 foam and are released with springy toe-offs. Lab tests confirm its optimal balance of height and plushness, maximizing comfort with a 36.7/24.6 mm stack height that is a soft 17.0 HA on our durometer. It delivers top-tier comfort for easy runs and LSDs.

Enhancing the natural feel is the flexible midsole, as evidenced by our bend test revealing it's 24.1% more malleable than average. Adding “structure” to the shoe is its high resistance against twisting, earning a 4/5 torsional rigidity score in our manual assessment. Together with the broad base, these elements significantly reduce the risk of ankle twists. The midsole measures a wide 116.4/95.3 mm vs. the 113.7/90.4 mm average, further bolstering stability.

However, we find that the upper is too thick and dense for warmer weather. We recommend using this trainer during cooler seasons for maximum comfort.

The Wildhorse 8 is our top Nike trail shoe to wear all day long thanks to its uber-comfortable upper, responsive midsole foam, and grippy outsole rubber.

The Wildhorse 8’s upper is among the most comfortable we’ve ever encountered in a trail shoe. It has a dual-mesh upper, which includes a soft and plush internal layer, that is extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods. And it also needs zero break-in time.

The shoe's midsole also delivers tremendous comfort as well as plentiful impact protection even through long distances on the trails. That's because it has a tall midsole - 0.9 mm taller in the forefoot and 2.5 mm taller in the heel - that is a whopping 42% softer than the average trail shoe. 

And the outsole is more than capable of navigating tough terrains. The outsole rubber is 2.1% softer than what's found in typical trail shoes, but we found that it helps improve the shoe's traction through difficult trails, but also on hard trails and tarmac.

But we don't recommend the Wildhorse 8 for all-day wear during exceptionally hot temperatures due to its subpar breathability. Upon closer examination, we found the internal layer of the dual-mesh upper hindered the airflow to the shoe, which is why it scored only a 3 out of 5 on our breathability test, with 5 being the most breathable.

The Downshifter 12 is hands down the best budget shoe Nike has for all-day wear. As our different lab and run tests determined, this shoe's combination of nicely balanced midsole and plushly padded upper make it an unbeatable budget shoe to wear for hours on end.

Costing just $70, the Downshifter 12 is right near the very bottom of Nike's running shoe price range, where the cheapest shoe is $60 and the average price is at $126. 

However, the shoe's midsole feels decidedly premium underfoot. It's certainly not a cloud-like cushioning, but we felt it had a nice balance of softness as we went on our test runs. Our durometer confirmed that the midsole was indeed quite balanced as it had a measurement of 26.0 HA, just 6.1% firmer than the average running shoe.

And the well-padded upper provided a supremely pleasurable experience even as we had the shoe on for several hours. There is generous padding in the heel counter and the tongue feels particularly plush. Upon measuring that tongue, we found it was 4.3 mm thicker than usual. 

But the Downshifter 12's big downside is that it is a stiff shoe that gets even more inflexible in cold temperatures. It's already 20% stiffer than average at room temperature, but it gets 46% stiffer than the average running shoe after 20 minutes in the freezer. So those looking for a flexible all-day shoe, especially in cold weather, should consider other options.
