Who should buy the Xero Shoes Denver
The Xero Shoes Denver boot is sure to keep you warm and comfy in chilly, winter months. It is a solid option if you:
- Prefer a hiking boot that has a low-to-the-ground design that promotes balance and stability.
- Prefer a hiking boot that keeps the foot cozy and warm even when it’s really cold out there.
Grippy and durable
The Xero Shoes Denver is made with a high-traction FeelTrue® rubber sole. Unlike traditional soles, this one is thinner but nevertheless grippy and durable. It’s an exclusive sole technology by Xero Shoes, able to give its wearers ample protection while still creating that “barefoot” feel.

The sole features the DayLite Hiker EV pattern with dual-chevron tread, giving great traction when going uphill, downhill, fast or slow. Similar to other trail running boots from Xero Shoes, this boot has 6mm thick contact which still has a great barefoot feel but offers more protection. Furthermore, the non-elevated, “zero-drop” heel helps the wearer retain proper posture.
Allows the wearer gets enough ground feedback
Unlike traditional boots that use synthetic foam for cushion, the Xero Shoes Denver only makes use of a removable insole. This is to ensure that the wearer gets enough “ground feedback” or the so-called “barefoot” walking or running experience. Nevertheless, the sole is very much durable so the foot is still protected from impact, abrasion, sharp objects, and other elements.
Excellent insulation
The insoles used for the Denver boots are heat-reflecting. They just don’t provide cushions and protection, but their insulating properties add to the warmth and comfort of the shoes.
Provides excellent waterproofing and a wide toe box
The shoe upper is constructed using a water-repellant canvas, which was found to be enough to keep the foot dry in slightly wet conditions. The lack of a waterproof membrane means that the Denver boots aren’t something you can use for crossing streams or navigating extremely muddy terrains. It also features a wide toe box that gives the foot enough room to move, spread, and flex.

The insides of the shoe are lined with flannel fabric which feels soft and cozy on the feet. Despite being thick and warm, flannel absorbs and releases moisture (such as perspiration) quickly, allowing the fabric to “breathe”. Completing the upper is a lace-up closure system and a pull tab in the heel, allowing for easy slip-on and off.
Nice to know
- Xero Shoes that feature the FeelTrue® outsoles come with a 5,000-mile sole warranty. This means that if you buy a pair of Xero Shoes Denver shoes and it wears down to 1mm thick at the ball or heel of the foot, they will replace your footwear with the same model.
