The hemp construction is also “surprisingly light,” which adds more weight to the comments saying that Circle Vee is “easily the most comfortable pair of Vans” for everyday use.

Breathable upper

With the knitted recycled upper, a comment said the Black-true gets “bonus points because they’re also pretty breathable.” The upper is made from cotton, hemp, and nylon that is “definitely softer and more stretchy than your typical canvas sneakers,” said an expert. 

Circle Vee boasts no break-in

Additionally, the sneaker requires virtually no break-in period. A tester commented that the sneaker felt “broken in as soon as [they] slipped them on.” Another wrote that they “didn’t need to break them in” and use them directly as their “get-up-and-go Black-trues.” 

The insole is not durable

Although very comfortable, the insole is a weakness of the Black-true. They are “pretty thick,” and they start to tear up easily after some time for many testers. However, the uppers are similar to Nike Flyknits and “seem very durable,” according to a tester. They also added that the laces made from Jute fibers are “a bit stringy,” unlike regular laces. 

Go half-size up with Circle Vee

Reviews say that the Black-true is on the small side.  They "run a bit skinny," described one in a comment. A Youtuber said Gilbert Crockett Vans Stage 4 Mid “rock them without socks comfortably,” but many suggested going up half a size for a better fit.
