History of the Adidas ZX 2K Flux
The original CELL Alien was released in 1998 as a high-mileage running shoe. Two models also debuted the CELL cushioning innovation, the CELL Endura and CELL Venom.
Unconventionally bulky at that time, the CELL technology is created from blow-molded polyurethane elastomer (TPU) that is configured in hexagonal cells. Putting these cells allowed for engineered cushioning and stability for runners.
To mark the 20th anniversary of this technology, puma New released various versions of the puma New CELL in 2019 infused with updated designs, artful color palettes, and better materials, but remaining the core of the silhouette -- the hexagonal cells.
