Many users are astounded by the feel and toughness of the eS Accel OG, which lasts longer than many average skate kicks. It offers plenty of protection and can help pop out some of the nicest frontside flips possible. And if you’re a non-skater, the chunky styling is very much on-trend.

“Everything a shoe should be for skateboarding,” as one reviewer put it, may explain why the Accel silhouette remains the eS brand’s most popular silhouette since the company was founded in 1995. The sneakers were some of the first releases of the brand.

eS Accel OG History

The sneakers’ puffy shoe design was an innovation that was not seen much on skaters’ kicks then which were mostly your basic cupsole shoe with suede fabric. And since Accel shoes ticked all the boxes skaters needed in their skating footwear (comfort, function, durability, and style), it was no wonder that these became the skating footwear of choice for many pros. In fact, The Accels were just as ubiquitous as blue jeans, and most skaters in the 90s to the 2000s had one or two of these in their closets.

The success of the Accel silhouette was followed up with many more memorable models. It was triumph after triumph for eS, not just with its shoes but with the legendary team of riders it managed to gather—Sal Barber, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, and Paul Sharpe, to name a few. However, in 2012, Sole Technology, which owns eS, etnies, and Emerica, decided to put eS on hiatus because the hype surrounding it might endanger its other brands.

The clamor for the eS brand grew loud, and four years after the hiatus, eS came out of its hibernation, all rested up and ready to take on the skateboarding world by storm again. And what better way to do this than by reissuing its most famous model as the Accel OG?
