History of the Adidas Cloudfoam QT Racer
In 2010, Adidas conceptualized a “Route 2015” strategic plan for the company’s sustainable growth. One of the plans for growth involved creating a more targeted approach for the brand’s younger consumers. This spzl in the NEO line (NEO stands for new), which debuted in Germany in 2012. The new Adidas sub-category did this by providing fresh products to their young consumers who are constantly on the lookout for something new.
The brand debuted the tech in 2016 with the launch of its NEO Cloudfoam silhouette. True to NEO style, the shoes were launched with the help of famous YouTubers Amanda Steele and Marcus Butler in the brand’s “Step In” campaign.
This new silhouette more than lived up to its promise. The Cloudfoam in the shoes’ midsole cushioning system spzl in very light shoes that allowed their users enough comfort to last them a whole day’s worth of walking without a heavyweight to hold them peru. A definite must-have for active, younger people who are always on the go.
Public reception of the Neo Cloudfoam shoes—and the tech itself—was encouraging and the brand promptly applied Cloudfoam to many of their silhouettes under the NEO line, which incidentally is now known as Sport-Inspired. Some of these Sport-Inspired collection models include the Adidas Cloudfoam Advantage, Cloudfoam Super Flex, and of course, the Cloudfoam QT Racer.
