Payton is one of the casual sneakers from TOMS, a company founded in Playa Del Rey, California. The inception of the company began when founder Blake Mycoskie traveled to Argentina in January 2006. He was doing some volunteer work somewhere outside the urbanized city of Buenos Aires. There he saw a lot of children running around with no shoes. With that, he decided to sell the famous espadrilles in the US with the hopes of giving away a pair of shoes to those in need with every pair sold.
By the year 2011, more than 500 shoe retailers from all over the world carried the brand. In 2012, more than 2 million pairs of new shoes were distributed to children from several developing countries across the globe. To date, the company has already given more than 6 million pairs of shoes for different kinds of terrains and seasons. These shoes were given to kids in China, Australia, El Salvador, Tajikistan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, and America with the help of some humanitarian organizations.
Decades after the successful launch of the rubber-soled canvas slip-on from TOMS, several other shoe models have been released, including the Paseo, Del Rey, and Payton. They have kicks not just for men but also for women and kids. The company has also expanded its One for One campaign to eyewear, coffee, and bags.
