History of the Reebok Rapide
Initially a beginner’s running model, the Reebok Rapide was unveiled in 1985. A kick that was able to withstand 25-30 miles of running, the Rapide comes with a thermoplastic heel counter offering support and stability for the foot’s rear.
Anyone might think that a sneaker with such a feat comes with a price, but fortunately, the Rapide was one of the cheapest silhouettes to ever come out of the pack.
The Rapide had a relatively short-lived success considering its considerable value for money. It was in 1991 that the sneaker’s appearance was first revamped.
The reconstruction also included a feminine design which was called the Etoile, French for “Star.” A few years after, the Rapide and Etoile outdid it again by launching another look in 1995 which pretty much resembles the Classic Leather’s facade.
Jump forward to 2016, the 1995 OG Rapide was re-introduced to the public in a silky kind of way. Korean models advertised the newly invented kicks internationally along with their long legs and free-flowing skirts.
