The original Onitsuka Tiger label or the Superior Deluxe version of the shoe first came out in 2002 as a reissue in time for the 100th anniversary of founder Kihachiro Onitsuka. Onitsuka Tiger was founded in 1949 in Kobe, Japan as the Onitsuka Co. Ltd. In 1977, the company was later merged with other partners and became ASICS Corporation.
