History of the K-Swiss Court Classico

K-Swiss got its name from the company’s founders, brothers Art and Ernie Brunner who were Swiss nationals who relocated to the U.S. After immigrating to the US, the brothers founded the K-Swiss (Kuenzli-Swiss) business in California in 1966. They were avid tennis players and skiers who decided to combine some elements of the ski cleat to create a supportive court shoe that would be able to handle aggressive side-to-side movements in tennis playing.

K-Swiss Court Classico Outsole

The brand’s first shoes were the Court Classics which were also the first all-leather tennis sneakers. This silhouette quickly gained acclaim worldwide and became true to its name—a classic.  In 2015, the brand worked on a sneaker program that was aimed at producing a modern court collection. This program resulted in a collection of shoes that have the distinct characteristic of being stylish enough to be worn in posh country clubs yet looking sassy enough to be worn on the city streets. This line, which was also designed as a tribute to the original Court Classic, featured four models including the Court Classico.
