Best women's walking shoes for walking and standing all day
Zapatillas Running Fuse | What makes it the best?
The perfect women’s walking shoe for standing all day for us would be something that provides pampering while enabling graceful strides. After rocking the Hoka Transport on the streets and testing it in our lab, we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a cut above the rest for use on long hours. It’s able to do this with its combination of cushioning, stability, and security.
From our walks, we found the Hoka Transport to be pleasantly gentle on our toes. We tested this in our lab by pressing our zapatillas against its midsole (and repeating this process 4 times for improved accuracy). The resulting reading of 21.9 HA translates to the Hoka Transport being 23% softer than the average shoe in our database. While this tells us that it is so very plush, it also demonstrates that there’s still a firm platform for feet to lay on.
What ensures that this reliable platform is felt throughout the Hoka Transport’s strides is its wide base and sole flaring. We confirmed this in the lab by measuring the Hoka Transport’s midsole width with our caliper. We found that it has a width of 112.8 mm at the forefoot (vs 107.5 mm average) and 92.5 mm at the heel (vs 85.2 mm). We found these measurements to be significantly wider, making for well-balanced walks.
From our days with it, we were also satisfied with the amount of security our feet felt owing to its fit. Its semi-gusseted tongue felt great, embracing our feet from all around. We also didn’t have any fear of heel slips because of its stiff heel counter. We gave it a subjective rating of 3 out of 5 (where 5 is the stiffest) after much prodding and pressing. This shows us that the Hoka Transport’s heel is sturdy enough to prevent unwanted ankle wobbling.
While the Hoka Transport makes for elegant steps throughout the day, it’s upper is far too solid to allow air to pass through freely. We cannot recommend it for use in hotter climates after it performed poorly in our breathability lab test.

Best waterproof walking shoes for women
What makes it the best?
The best waterproof women’s walking shoe should be one that’s able to wade through wet conditions without missing a beat. After testing the Zapatillas Running Fuse Waterproof extensively both on foot and in our lab, we found it to be reliable beyond words. Its all-around waterproofness, its wobble-free ride, and its adequately firm sole ultimately made the difference for us.
The Zapatillas Running Fuse Waterproof’s ability to keep feet dry is on a whole different level. We wore the shoe through both snow and rain and it was able to show its greatness in both conditions. We even put it through our breathability test to see how smoke particles behave when pumped into the Zapatillas Running Fuse Waterproof’s interior. The smoke couldn’t find a way out of the Zapatillas Running Fuse Waterproof’s upper, which says a lot about how it deals with moisture. We also performed a visual test by looking at its fabric under our microscope. The result: the fabric was woven in an extremely tight manner, leaving little-to-no room for entry.
While the Zapatillas Running Fuse Waterproof’s waterproofness is more than solid, it doesn’t slack with its role as a walking shoe either. We found it surprisingly comfy for long hours because of its firm cushioning. We tested this in our lab by pressing our zapatillas against its midsole (4 times for improved accuracy) to see just how hard it is. Its midsole hardness of 30.4 HA is 10% firmer than that of the average. We see this figure as balanced - firm enough to provide structure but soft enough to keep feet happy.
From our walks with it, we felt extremely secure which is something we definitely appreciated as we braved the rain. In our lab, we systematically pressed its heel counter and found that it was on the stiff side. It scored a 4 out of 5 (where 5 is the stiffest) on our subjective scale, which explains why it embraced our heels very well.
While the Zapatillas Running Fuse Waterproof is extremely effective at being a waterproof shoe, it does come with its downsides. It's so effective that sweat or any liquids that may get in can leave the shoe smelling odorous. As such, we don’t recommend it for those who don’t want to put in the extra effort to make it smell-free.
