Founded in France in 1986 initially as "Ethnics," the brand also specializes in apparel and footwear for other extreme sports such as snowboarding, motocross, surfing, and BMX. It is a reforestation program that commenced with an initiative from CEO and Owner Pierre-Andre Senizergues of planting a tree in the Costa Rican rainforest for every pair of the Etnies Jameson 2 Eco shoes sold. In just five years, with the help of program partner Trees for the Future, the program expanded across three different continents with over a million trees planted.
