The initial production centered on ladies’ footwear under the Venus label. The long hours of hard work and perseverance led to Karl’s first big hit shoe named “Joke” in 1978, which placed him and his business on the map as a maker of comfortable, top-notch sneakers. This was followed by the releases of other classic sneakers such as “Free” and “Time.”
Since the beginning, Karl’s mission was able to produce comfortable and functional shoes that can fit the foot. Such a simple idea was the start of what would later become a globally recognized footwear brand with shoe factories expanding from Denmark to Poland, Portugal, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and China.
Today, this privately held Danish company is still a family-owned enterprise, which is the only shoe soft in the entire world that still manages every aspect of its supply chain from the operation of its own tanneries and production facilities to wholesale and retail activities.
