Clarks was founded by brothers Cyrus and James Clark in England back in 1825. The business started by creating rugs out of sheepskins. In 1828, the first Clarks shoes were created out of the offcuts of rugs. 

Years passed, Clarks reached the forefront of technological innovation when William Clarks started to mechanize shoemaking processing in 1873. In the early 1940s, the director of Clarks, in the name of John Bostock, created a new foot measuring system that secured an accurate fit for children.

Eventually, this development opened an opportunity and led the way for the brand to the British footwear industry.
