Our verdict
The GTS version of the Levitate 6 brings with it Brooks’ trusty GuideRail-based guidance, letting runners with stability needs enjoy this shoe’s traditional ride and exceptional comfort. While its supportive fit and improved DNA Amp midsole make easy miles more fun, its heavy-for-a-daily-trainer weight has definitely kept runners from levitating during their runs.

Who should not buy it
Those who prefer a more lightweight stability shoe should turn their eyes to the ASICS Gel Kayano Lite 3 or the Altra Provision 7. If it’s trail shoe-like traction you’re after, check out the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22.
Conforms to your feet, to a point
Brooks Brothers Paisley-Print Cami Levitate 6 than the Stealthfit. Its full-length mesh upper is snug but pliable, letting it adapt to different foot widths. However, reviewers warned those with wide feet that its fit and structure might not allow for the spread and swelling of feet during longer runs.
Though aptly padded, its stiff heel counter might also be a cause of concern to those with heel sensitivities. One runner claimed that after a 1-hour run, her left heel became sore.
Getting locked in is a cinch in the Levitate GTS 6
Because of its snug fit, getting a solid lockdown in the GTS 6 is a breeze. Several users reported that the foothold is so good, they “have not had to lace lock the shoe” while running.
Comfy if you’re patient
Once the GTS 6 had broken in—which “took about 4 runs,” shared one reviewer—it became the wear-all-day-with-no-pain shoe Brooks fans are used to. One long-time Levitate user even surmised that “this iteration might be the most comfortable” she’s ever worn.
Reviewers can’t seem to agree on cushioning
The Levitate GTS 6’s DNA Amp v2 midsole has gotten expert reviewers and casual users divided. Seasoned shoe critics found that while the foam is “firmer than the majority of shoes on the market,” it’s not overly responsive and does not live up to its ‘Energize’ category (Brooks’ max-springiness road runners).
Meanwhile, a saddle of casual runners felt the opposite, reporting that there was plenty of cushioning and energy return in the midsole.
No consensus on ride quality either
Similarly, opinions were split concerning the GTS 6’s ride. Users generally felt that the shoe put a bit of spring to their step, with one even claiming that it was bouncier than her Ghosts.
Experts, on the other hand, contended that while it does run “lighter than its listed weight,” it wasn’t enough to justify how sluggish this ‘Energize’ shoe is.

The GTS iteration of the Levitate 6 tips the scale at 309g. It’s a good 36g heavier than the average daily-training road shoe. For this reason—even though its “foam becomes more interesting as the pace picks up”—this hefty boy is best used only for “short spirited runs” or “easy and longer miles,” according to experts.
Those not intending to use the shoes purely for running also find that they are “a great crossover shoe- perfect for the gym and also while on the go.”
Plenty of rubber, lacking in grip
Testers say that the extensive rubber coverage on the GTS 6’s outsole “further contributes to the firmer underfoot feel” of the shoe. Some also didn’t like its less-than-adequate traction, which prompted one runner to use it strictly as her treadmill shoe.
Does the GTS name proud
Stability in the GTS 6 comes from its GuideRails and medial post, complemented by the shoe’s overall rigidity. Reviewers were impressed at how well the guidance Sprint provided an “inherently stable underfoot feel” and limited excess movement in their feet, knees, and hips.
