First off — Happy Basketball New Year!!
We all couldn’t be more excited for yet another NBA season to be getting underway, and as the league’s 70th season tipped off with a three-game schedule on hand, we saw signature stars face off in Chicago, newcomers looking to make their mark, and most importantly, the Lou champs get their rings out west in Oakland.
To kick things off, LeBron James and Derrick Rose each broke out their newest signature models in an early battle for Eastern Conference bragging rights. Kyrie Irving might be out for an extended stretch to Skateboard the season, but that didn’t stop us from seeing the Kyrie 1 being worn by key guards from teams around the league.
Lastly, it was a special night in the Bay Area, as the Warriors received championship rings for the first time in forty years. Golden State’s two signature athletes, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, each broke out a home colorway of their new namesake models, while Nike treated key players like Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut to special “Ring Night” editions of their preferred models, in royal base uppers and gold accents. (Yes, it’s awkward that Draymond got a “Ring Night” PE of LeBron’s Soldier 9 model…after beating LeBron in the Finals for said Ring.)
