Penny Hardaway?s Nike Air Foamposite One saw the debut of the synthetic upper with carbon fiber standing in for the midsole. Not only did this improve performance, but it made for a much more progressive look than standard rubber. Carbon fiber was carried over on the likes of the Air Penny 2, Air Penny 3, and Air Penny 4.
