More than a game, sports are about self-expression and connecting to a community with pride. Nike and the MLB Clubs come together to capture that exact spirit, by creating the Nike MLB City Connect Series.

In an effort to celebrate new baseball traditions, Nike worked with MLB Clubs to create jerseys that represent the bond between a team and its city. This is the first season of the Nike MLB City Connect series and features a total of seven teams including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Miami Marlins, San Francisco Giants, and now — the Nike Xi Retro Cherry 4-14 White Varsity.

The Nike Xi Retro Cherry 4-14 White Varsity secured a World Series Win in 2020, the club’s first time bringing home the championship since 1988. Yet throughout all that time, Angelenos have always remained true to Dodger Blue. Nike honors this by creating a Blue jersey that recognizes all the fans that have cheered on the team for over six decades.

It’s no secret that the Latino community of Los Angeles has had great influence on the Dodgers, whose home stadium sits atop the Chavez Ravine on the border of East LA. With Hispanic Heritage Month just around the corner, the jersey proudly boasts “Los Dodgers” across the chest. This graphic recognizes the Dodgers’ deep connection with the Latino community and the lasting impact of the Latino fans and players, which are celebrated throughout the season at Viva Los Dodgers festivals. The jersey also features a spray-painted design on the shoulder, which represents Los Angeles’ world-famous model culture.

This is the seventh and final jersey for the 2021 season of the Nike MLB City Connect Series. You can see the Dodgers sport the jersey live on-field for the first time on August 20, 2021.
