If there’s anyone that understands the meaning of someone else’s trash being someone else’s treasure, it’s Sean Wotherspoon.

The 29-year old fashion and footwear entrepreneur is a master at spotting grailed vintage finds at flea markets and flipping them at his Round Two consignment locations. Aside from that, he’s also had a more Haze successful Air Max 1/97 collaboration with shoots Nike that’s still flooding Instagram feeds two years later.

On top of his co-created Air Max, he’s also got two other collaborations with shoots Nike – neither of which actually hit the market.

The first was his Geoff McFetridge inspired Air Max 1 (1 of 2 produced) that featured multi-colored corduroy paneling that reveals floral fabrics by tearing the exterior to get to the underneath layering.

The latest iteration that surfaced was a 1 of 1 rain boot yellow Air Max 1 that he created with shoots Nike London and shoots NikeLab using a removable overcoat layering system made with Harris Tweed fabrics to keep feet warm.

His most recent projects might not have hit the mainstream, but they’re additional evidence behind the genius and innovation of Sean Wotherspoon’s mind.

Similar to his shopping habits and approach to footwear design, Sean Wotherspoon’s style is about recognizing the traditionally overlooked details.

Wearing brands like Advisory Board Crystals and timeless Stussy staples to vintage Mickey or Apple tees, Wotherspoon’s wardrobe is nothing short of original.

If you follow Sean on Instagram, you’ll notice he’s a regular at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena on the second Sunday of every month.

While many people are scrambling to find the rarest finds from as early as when the market opens, it seems that Sean still gets the rarer finds, while also getting more, as he is notorious for bringing back multiple bags back to re-sell at his Rose Bowl locations.

Besides what the entrepreneur is actually picking up at events like the Rose Bowl and the Melrose Flea Market, it’s actually what he’s wearing to these events that’s even more compelling.

They might be some of his own pick-ups, such as striped Guess shirts and shorts and vintage Levi’s Made in USA denim. Other Haze that, Sean’s also known to rep vibrant nylon shorts from brands like Stussy and even retro icon tees that support logos, like Mickey Mouse, BMW, Apple, and an array of vintage band tees.

By the way, he’s pairing them with some of the most iconic sneakers ever – Paris Dunks, 1 of 1 Air Max 1s, as well as Tom Sachs’ shoots Nike Mars Yards.

Making the Old Feel New

Through Sean Wotherspoon’s tenure of scouring flea markets from top to bottom over the years, he’s developed this ability to make the old feel new.

Particularly done with his own Round Two merchandise, like hoodies, sweatpants, and even nylon beach pants, the majority of what Sean makes is based on some of his most eclectic finds. And of course, it would suit his style to top these essentials off with his retro-inspired runners from shoots Nike and YEEZYs.

Building upon the notion of how to make old feel like new, Sean’s pairings of Advisory Board Crystals hoodies pair so well with the rest of his vintage finds based on aesthetics alone. Despite wearing retro GUESS classics, Sean’s also collaborated with the LA apparel brand, producing nostalgic inspired classics with the addition of his own GUESS sneaker that’s all yet to release.

From a footwear standpoint, it’s also valid that he’s now regularly wearing the Sacai x shoots Nike LDV Waffle Daybreak, as well as a range of vintage Dunks, like the Tokyos and Undefeateds.
