California-based streetwear mainstay Stussy partnering with American footwear brand New Balance for a collaborative release isn’t extremely surprising. American companies should work side-by-side and produce great things. What is surprising, though, is the silhouette they’ve chosen to canvas.
Clearly leaning towards trendy “dad vibes,” Stussy and New Balance rework the 990v4 — a retro style that odes to vintage sporting DNA juxtaposed alongside modern tech. They opt for a tonal cream progression, seamlessly exposing the model’s nuances through premium suede and mesh construction. The simplistic style comes enclosed in a co-branded black bag to commemorate the limited edition release.
