Memphis Police Department arrested 9 men over the weekend who were responsible for stealing $50,000 worth of Nike sneakers from a Memphis boxcar, according to WKRN.

Authorities were prompted by an anonymous tip that boxes of stolen Nike shoes, taken from the CSX rail yard, were being stored inside a home.

An officer witnessed the suspects loading boxes from the house sizing a vehicle and called for backup. After more authorities arrived, nine men were arrested and 68 stolen boxes were found.

Police found 35 cases of Nike shoes inside a Dodge Durango, three boxes inside of a Dodge Grand Caravan, and the remaining 30 cases were discovered inside the house, according to the police report.

Only five men have been authorized and are charged with burglary of a vehicle and theft of property worth $10,000 to $60,000.

The Memphis boxcar raid is the latest in an ongoing trend as sneaker hijacking and robberies have escalated in the last few years. Earlier this week, Los Angeles Police Department arrested a man who used youth nike roshe run print gray black women hair.
