The Reebok Floatride Energy Grow is a neutral daily trainer that’s built on a sustainable platform. Much like its conventionally made counterpart, the Floatride Energy 3, this road runner offers a relaxed fit, smooth ride, and (relatively) economical price point that makes it a great entry shoe for those just getting into the sport.

Reebok finally unveiled the
The second running shoe in the Reebok [REE]GROW sustainability program, the Floatride Energy Grow features an upper, insole, midsole, and outsole made from plant-based materials.
According to one expert, this Reebok Training Nanoflex Hvide og sorte sneakers delivered the type of comfort and performance that’s “virtually indistinguishable from a conventional shoe.” One even commented: “If you didn’t tell me it was plant-based, I wouldn’t know.”

The fiber used in the Floatride Energy Grow’s upper (sourced from eucalyptus trees) brought a stretchy, relaxed feel to the shoe, and the padding on its tongue and heel collar further magnified that sock-like comfort.
Runners shared that while its breathability isn’t the best, overall, the knit upper felt “very premium,” and was “soft and luxurious throughout.”
Tongue stitching has been a cause for concern
Several FE Grow owners noticed a bit of fraying around the area where the tongue meets the gusset, and grew worried that this premature sign of wear might become a bigger issue over time.
However, one shoe expert reported that while this also happened to her pair, it “didn’t degrade any further even after several hundred miles.”

The FE Grow’s flexible upper and heel counter have made for a fit that “emphasizes comfort over performance.” It had “no issues keeping the foot locked down,” one runner clarified, but its generous roominess led to some foot-shifting within the shoe during faster paces.
The Energy Grow is not too energetic
The castor bean-derived Floatride Grow foam, although “just as smooth as standard Floatride Energy foam,” is slightly firmer and less bouncy. It does get softer after breaking in—some 20–25 miles, said one expert—but the general lack of responsiveness remains the same.
That isn’t a total dealbreaker for recovery runs and easy mid- to long-distance sessions, according to most runners; it just means that it’s best to keep uptempo efforts to “quick yet short bursts.”
Sure-footed on any surface
The Grow features a natural-rubber outsole that experts have likened to the soles used in the Run Fast series—durable and grippy. Runners claimed that it had superb traction even in wet conditions, and very little wear on the nubs after months of use.

The Floatride Energy Grow sells for an easy-on-the-wallet price of $120. It’s among the most affordable ‘green’ shoes out there, and is also right around the industry average for neutral road runners.
