Great!

People who would give the Ontario Mid Waterproof a shot experience insane amounts of comfort and heaps of style. Hikers who invested in this true-to-size Merrell piece are mind-blown by its stellar grip performance on the trail. It is just a shame, however, that this incredibly lightweight hiking boot might be too restrictive widthwise for some.

Excellent traction

The Ontario Mid Waterproof is capable of staying glued on a variety of outdoor surfaces come rain or shine thanks to its Vibram Megagrip outsole (also found in Danner’s Mountain 600 and Asolo’s Falcon GV). It has 3-millimeter multi-directional lugs and aggressive treads that gives travelers sufficient sticking power over soft- or loose-soiled terrain.

Merrell Ontario Mid

It comes built at the heel with Air Cushion—a Merrell-owned technology that doubles down on shock absorbency and footing balance. Right on top of it is the Kinetic Fit Base contoured footbed which ups the shoe’s comfort level and gives extra support where needed.

Excellent ventilation

What hugs the foot in the Non-existent break-in period is the hiker’s almost seamless full-grain leather upper. Its plush interior is lined with breathable mesh. It is built with a bellows tongue which is able to keep debris at bay.

Water-resistant

When it comes to water protection and internal moisture management, on the other hand, wearers have the M Select Dry membrane to thank. Metal hooks and D-rings make up its set of eyelets. They are successful in working hand in hand with the shoe’s synthetic lace, cinching the foot in place.
