Who should buy the La Sportiva Olympus Mons Cube
As most of the reviews suggest, this mountaineering boot is one of the best there are today. It is a solid option if you prefer a mountaineering boot that:
- Boot Grading for Crampons
- is thermally insulated
- allows the wearer to adjust the tightness of the boot even with gloves on
Ensures that no dirt stuck between
- The La Sportive Olympus Mons Cube men's boots are the updated version of the Olympus Mons Evo. The Cube version features tech-fitting binding inserts that allow for skiing across and up glaciers. This is especially helpful for polar expeditions that require a long approach on skis.
- Despite the added features, the latest Olympus boots from La Sportiva are 400 grams much lighter than their predecessor. It's also warmer due to the addition of the Primaloft Gold Insulation Aerogel. It also features a thermally insulated outsole by Vibram.
- Instead of laces, the new Olympus Mons features a BOA system - a dial closure that makes it possible to adjust the tightness of the boot even with your gloves on.
Size and fit
The Olympus Mons Evo Cube is essentially a triple-layer boot. In addition to the second-layer boot, there is a third sock liner that ensures a glove-like fit. It also adds warmth and comfort to the foot and helps increase the drying times significantly. The boot also comes with a gaiter with an offset zipper that goes its full length. This design allows flexibility and easy access inside. The waterproof zipper is reinforced by a heavy-duty Velcro fastener.
Instead of a lace-up closure, the Mons Evo Cube uses the dual BOA system that lets the wearer adjust the fit between the upper and lower portions of the internal boot in one go, and without the wearer having to take their hand gloves off.
Excellent performance and durability
The Olympus Mons Evo Cube has the Vibram Litebase and Morflex outsole which is about 40-50% thinner than their standard outsole but has the same performance and durability, thereby reducing the overall weight of the boot.

For the midsole, this mountaineering boot from La Sportiva uses a 2mm polyurethane for crampon attachment. A big change in the current Olympus Mons is the tech inserts that allow the boot to be used with mountaineering bindings at the toe only.
Durable and insulated
Compared to the previous version, the Olympus Mons Cube has a slimmer upper which is composed of a hard-wearing Cordura gaiter, a robust outer shell, and two inner thermal booties. The thermal insulation is enhanced by the Primaloft Gold Aerogel which makes it ready for freezing weather conditions.
