Our verdict

The Jordan Why Not .6 carries over the strong points of the previous version and fixes whatever was wrong with it. We confirmed that this shoe is for players who run up and down the court, do a lot of rebounds, and even go for a dunk. As long as the games are played indoors, this shoe is sure to dish out a good performance.

If shoes that do not need some breaking in are what you want, then you will not find the Jordan Why Not .6 fully enjoyable. Parts of it, especially the traction, need some time before they unleash Oregon potential. Try getting the KD 15 from Nike instead.

If longevity is desired, then we recommend using this Jordan shoe only on indoor courts. A good alternative we can suggest for hoopers who love to play outdoors is the Cosmic Unity 3, which is still from Nike. If willing to try non-Swoosh or non-Jordan alternatives, the Dame 8 from Adidas is a good pick.

Generally satisfactory

We really revelled in playing in the Jordan Why Not .6 as it was a tonne of fun to use on the court. It also crosses off most, if not all the general shoe requirements from the best performer hoop shoe.

We noticed that the rubber compound that makes up the sole works perfectly on indoor courts. We would like to point out, though, that we were only able to fully enjoy this shoe's traction after an initial break-in period. Fortunately, breaking in this shoe was not a long process.

Our whole feet are welcomed by excellent support in this shoe. We didn't find this surprising, especially when we discovered that the Jordan Why Not .6 has many bolstering layers.

Ankle lockdown is noteworthy

While this shoe supports our whole feet very well, the grasp it has around our ankles is worth the special mention. We felt that the Why Not .6 is able to give us a really robust feeling of security around the ankle. Because of this, we can say that there is no reason to second-guess one's moves when in the game.

As already pointed out, the upper has several layers. Because of this, we felt that the protection this shoe gave us was top-of-the-line. Even when we dragged our toes a bit too much, we still got the protection that we needed from this Jordan shoe.

Comfortable and well-made upper

Aside from being sturdy, the upper of the Jordan Why Not .6 feels nice. The tongue is particularly noteworthy as we found that it is padded and therefore also super soft.

Off-limits on outdoor courts

It's true that the upper is quite durable. Unfortunately, the same thing cannot be said for the outsole. We found that harsher conditions of outdoor courts will only eat away at the pattern on the sole. Because of this, we don't recommend outdoor use.

It's plush underfoot

The level of cushioning in the heel part of the shoe afforded us top-tier impact protection. Because of the plushness of the cushion, our feet remained pain-free even after being in the shoe for a long time.

A lot of energy return at the forefoot.

We noticed that this shoe has a super bouncy feel on the forefoot. We felt that this area has a very lively feeling. Because of this, we are much more confident and our runs are more energised.

Speed up with the Why Not .6

The weight of the Jordan Why Not .6 is just around average at 13 oz (369g) (the average is at 12.7 oz or 360g). As already mentioned, the bounce at the forefoot is incredible. Because of this, we found that it is really easy to get speed when we are wearing this shoe in our games.
