Altra Viho review

is more wide-feet friendly everyday road running shoe. If you´re a runner who´s looking for a simple yet stylish running shoe that gives you all that Altra has to offer, the Viho is one to check out.

everyday road running shoe

The Altra Viho is a running shoe that is best suited for runners who want a:

  • daily runner that is comfortable
  • shoe with soft-spoken, versatile style
  • budget-friendly running shoe

Who should NOT buy it

I strongly suggest that you look away if you:

True to size fit

The Altra Viho fits true to size. I am a men’s U.S. 9.5 in most brands and the Viho fit me perfectly.

Lab test results

The Altra Viho fits a little slimmer than the normal Altra. While the toe box is still plenty roomy, the runner will notice an overall snugger fit. If the wide, spacious, roomy fit of the typical Altra has been a deterrent for you in the past, give this Altra a shot. Personally, I felt that it was kind of nice, given that this is a road shoe.

The Altra Viho feels quick

The Viho has a nice quick energy return about it. It feels zippier than it's intended to be and I liked that. Cornering felt nice and quick thanks to the shoe's solid lockdown. The Viho creates a secure but non-restrictive cocoon around the foot.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this shoe in a 5K fun run or something similar.

the Altra Viho is a great place to start

The Viho is the kind of shoe that you run a few miles in and forget that you're wearing afterward. The Viho´s cushioned tongue keeps the top of your foot feeling comfortable all day.

Not overly-cushioned

If you´re looking for a plush cushion look away. The Viho has a responsive footbed that provides some cushion but definitely not a tonne.

Reasonably lightweight

At 10.2oz/288g the Viho is pretty light. It's not super slim racing flat but it is far from heavy. On average, running shoes weigh 9.6oz/273g.

I felt light on my feet in the first couple of runs that I did in the Viho. I also churned out a few treadmill miles and the weight felt very appropriate.

Unassuming style of the Viho

I always admire shoes with a soft-spoken sense of style. For neighbourhood runs, days at the gym, or everyday wear the Viho will compliment your style, but won´t be too loud.

Great price at £110

Not only is the Viho comfortable, stylish, and great for short-distance runs, it's also priced right. Given that you can score a pair of these for £110, they are hard to pass up. If you are looking to cut your teeth on zero drop shoes, the Altra Viho is a great place to start.
